IMPIOUS - HELLCINATE スウェーデンのデス/スラッシュメタルバンド、4枚目のアルバム。 なおかつ国内デビュー盤。 メッシュシャツが素敵だぜ兄貴! 作風としては鋭いギターリフと凄まじいドラミングが一体となり攻めてくる凄まじい勢いを持つストレートなデスラッシュである。獰猛なギターリフ、デスラッシュビートを叩き付けまくるドラム、そして低音で吐き捨てていくデスヴォーカル。時折渋みさえ感じるようなかっこいい吐き捨てデスヴォーカルだ。ギターワークはこれぞデスラッシュ!といったブルータルかつ鋭いリフを刻んでいき、ドラムは押しつぶされそうなブラストビートを連発する。時折パッと表に顔を出すベースサウンドもかっこいい。これらが一団となり硬派で力強いデスラッシュを創り上げていっている。エクストリームなスピードで全編突っ走るサウンドだが、単なるスピード狂ではなく、楽曲に緩急をつけ曲の緊迫感を増大させたり、北欧バンドとしての叙情的な哀愁メロディをちょこっと(多くの北欧メタルバンドがやっているようなものではなく、あくまでちょこっと)顔を出させたりし、楽曲をより高クオリティに彩っている(メロディがほんの少しながらも本当絶妙で良いんだなぁ…)。そして近作の新たな試みなのか、ラストにミディアムテンポのドラマティックな長編ナンバーが用意されている。シンフォニーサウンドを用いてドラマティックに展開させているミステリアスで素晴らしい曲だ。スピーディなデスラッシュとはまったく異なるが、このバンドはこういう曲をやらせても上手い。こういう曲を中心にやっていってもいいんじゃないか…と一瞬思ってしまった(まあデスラッシュバンドとしてのIMPIOUSが好きなファンにとってはあまり好ましくないことだ/苦笑)。 全編で高クオリティなサウンドを見せつけ、これぞメタル!な感じの力強く硬派なデスラッシュを展開している。本当素晴らしいのでスラッシュメタルファン、デスメタルファンのみならず全メタルファンに聴いてもらい、そして愛して欲しい作品である。 INJECT WICKED SAINTS INFERNIQUE HELLUCINATIONS SHOW ME YOUR GOD!
